Meet Shanna Kotin, MA, LMFT
Therapy for women in Austin, Texas
I'm Shanna Kotin, MA, LMFT, owner of Chapter & Thyme Therapy, a licensed therapist and former UX researcher who understands what it's like to navigate demanding systems and shifting identities. I founded Chapter & Thyme Therapy to create a space where women can slow down, reflect, and grow through the transitions that shape their lives.
Whether that's a career change, a shift in identity, or a season of uncertainty, I'm here to support your journey with compassion and clarity.
My Approach
My style is collaborative, relational, and rooted in authenticity, compassion, and balance. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can show up exactly as you are — to express what's hard, process what's happening, and explore what needs care.
I see our work together as a holding space for your thoughts and emotions, a place where being seen and understood can bring clarity and open the door to meaningful change.

My Background
I have previously worked in tech myself and experienced firsthand the culture of constant productivity, high expectations, and the stress of instability — where layoffs and shifting roles can make it hard to feel secure or grounded. I also understand what it means to rebuild after major change, to find footing when life looks completely different than it used to.

The Meaning Behind Chapter & Thyme
Chapter
Symbolizes a new phase in life — moments of growth, change, or self-discovery that can feel both exciting and uncertain. Every chapter matters and deserves thoughtful attention.
Thyme
A play on words for "time" — the time it takes to heal, process, and figure things out. It also nods to the herb, connecting to grounded ness, nature, and holistic well-being. Thyme represents resilience, healing, and growth.
Together
Chapter & Thyme represents the balance between change and stillness — creating a calm, grounded environment where clients can find clarity and steadiness during times of transition.
